The Area Supervisor is directly responsible for the management, training, development, performance, retention and engagement of employees. Primary responsibility is leading the department or group of hourly team members in the achievement of operational and maintenance objectives pertaining to quality control, performance, production efficiency, costs, customer service, and workplace safety. The Area Supervisor will set a positive example for all employees, provide leadership towards meeting company production, financial, and strategic goals and objectives.
1. Provide exceptional customer service in a clean, organized industrial environment
2. Promote a team atmosphere, healthy and safe work environment for all employees providing consistent and ongoing communication and direction
3. Accountable for ensuring compliance to all safety programs, requirements and practices
5. Maintain standards for production, maintenance, housekeeping and quality control
6. Communicate with and engage the team members on key operational strategies
7. Understand industrial account, and take advantage of upgrading opportunities
8. Stay up to date on the latest technological improvements
9. Perform end of week/month physical inventory with Plant Manager
11. Set short and long-term goals to reduce maintenance costs
12. Oversite of Maintenance Techs and required needs to support equipment uptime
13. Monitor planned vs emergency maintenance work orders
15. Effectively address performance concerns, discipline and recognition
16. Work with Human Resources on employee issues
17. Fill in when Plant Manager is out of the facility or unavailable.
1. 2-3 years of supervisory experience with maintenance background
1. Basic knowledge in Excel, Outlook, and Word
1. Office Environment. Utilizing an office desk-sitting, reading, listening or speaking with the ability to move intermittently throughout the day
2. Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing and dexterity
3. Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones
4. Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial operation with uneven surfaces in inclement weather.
