Shift Energy Group is hiring a Apprentice Electrician to join our Nanaimo field crew and help bring solar energy projects to life across BC. As a Apprentice Electrician, you’ll be on the front lines of our installations — assembling and mounting solar modules and panels as specified by the system designers. You’ll work closely with your crew and report to the Crew Lead and Field Manager, helping deliver residential and commercial solar PV systems on time and on point.
From installing rooftop wiring, solar racking and modules for the interconnection of residential and commercial solar PV system to assembling rooftop equipment and sealing all roof penetrations, you'll play a hands-on role in every phase of the build. Your attention to detail and team-first mindset will ensure each project is completed to the highest standard.
· Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a residential setting.
· Must have a positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
· Current fall protection certification or willingness to take the fall protection training.
· Must be physically fit and able to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other similar electrical equipment.
· Must be able to work in extreme environments (for example hot sun, cold, attics, etc.)
· Must be capable of working efficiently and safely at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time.
· Previous PV solar installation experience is preferred but not required.
· Previous Experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry is preferred.
· Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success
· Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions and jobsite environments
· Working at heights and in confined spaces
· Ability to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
· Lifting, bending, standing, and other repetitive tasks
· Travel throughout BC with occasional overnight stays for out-of-town projects
· RRSP matching, paid time off and opportunities for professional development
· Per diem for travel for out-of-town projects.
· Regular training and certifications (Fall Protection, WHMIS, etc.)

· Location: 3696 Bell Rd, Nanaimo, BC V9R 6X3
· Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am- 4:00 pm
· This position involves regular travel throughout Vancouver Island, and the candidate should be comfortable with occasional overnight stays and out-of-town projects.
