Job Description
Job Summary: The primary role of the Applications Engineer is to design products that meet customer specifications and to prepare project quotes. The Applications Engineer is also responsible for assisting company business development personnel representatives with customer acquisition and maintenance efforts including but not limited to performing product presentations, site visits, and attending industry conferences. Must have a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company’s competitors.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
•Develops manufacturing methods and/or specifications for materials
•Responsible for all technical aspects of product development for design and drawing reviews
•Analyzes drawings, customer specifications and other documentation to compare with MED Standards for KLS Vessels and make required changes/exceptions to the vessel design.
•Consult with vendors for inquiry pricing of materials, instrumentation, controls, labor, and fabrication, if needed.
•Conduct preliminary ASME code calculations using Compress for all KLS products and other pressure vessels to verify whether or not the design layout meets ASME Section VIII, Div. I requirements.
•Review and Approve design, drawings, and calculations
•Select required equipment/products that are best suited for the customer’s needs and application.
•Prepare sales quotes for company products and follow up with customers to answer project questions and secure orders.
•Design company products to meet customer needs and specifications.
•Uses engineering knowledge to modify product designs as needed to improve performance or meet specific project constraints.
•Assist in new product design and R&D efforts by using engineering knowledge and skills. Communicate with customers to ensure proper product selection and design.
•Provide technical support to sales team and customers.
•All other tasks as assigned
Skills And Qualifications
•Minimum – BS in Engineering from an accredited university a must
•2D/3D Drafting Skills in CAD software
•Knowledge of Compress and ASME codes a must
•Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure
•Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills to work both with clients and internally with engineering, accounting and operations groups
•Strong analytical skills
•Be able to uphold Mueller Environmental Designs Core Values
Physical Requirements and other items to communicate
:
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Work in a high pace manufacturing environment, has the ability to multitask by sharing workspace with interruptions from others. Some travel may be required. At times, overtime may be required in order to meet a deadline.
