Job Summary
The Application Engineer serves as a key technical liaison between the company and its utility customers, providing in-depth product knowledge, engineering support, and custom application solutions for hardware used in power distribution and transmission systems. This role involves collaborating with internal engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to deliver tailored hardware solutions that meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory compliance.
Job Duties•Serve as the subject matter expert for the application of utility hardware products, including pole line hardware, brackets, connectors, grounding equipment, and anchoring systems.
•Provide technical assistance to customers, distributors, and field sales teams regarding product selection, system integration, and installation methods.
•Review and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements to develop customized product solutions or modifications.
•Work directly with utility companies, electrical contractors, and consulting engineers to understand project needs and recommend appropriate products or system designs.
•Participate in pre-bid meetings, product presentations, and customer training sessions to support the adoption of company solutions.
•Create and deliver technical documentation, including datasheets, application notes, installation guides, and performance reports.
•Collaborate with the product design and R&D teams to translate customer feedback and application requirements into new product development or enhancements.
•Assist in the creation of engineering drawings, product prototypes, and test samples to validate design feasibility and customer specifications.
•Ensure all product applications conform to relevant industry standards (e.g., ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, NESC) and utility specifications.
•Stay informed about regulatory updates, industry trends, and customer preferences to ensure continued market alignment.
•Provide engineering input during the quotation and proposal process, including cost estimation, lead time, and technical feasibility assessments.
•Support manufacturing and quality teams in resolving product-related issues, customer complaints, and non-conformance investigations.
•Recommend process and product improvements based on field performance data, customer feedback, and competitive benchmarking.
•Maintain detailed records of customer inquiries, design changes, and application support cases.
Experience and Education
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
•3+ years of engineering experience, preferably within the utility, power distribution, or utility hardware manufacturing sectors.
•Strong understanding of utility transmission and distribution infrastructure, hardware applications, and field installation practices.
•Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematic
•Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, and NESC.

•Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on, customer-focused approach.
•Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•Self-motivated, collaborative, and capable of working independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
