The Applications Engineer III, reporting to the Director of Engineering, plays a crucial role in maintaining customer confidence and strengthening dealer relationships by delivering technical leadership within the Fleet team. This role will provide “voice of customer” feedback to sales and product teams, product integration guidance in pre- and post-sales activities, and build scalable processes to ensure sustainable customer, technical, and field support. You’ll develop project plans to coordinate research, documentation, and development activities that break through regulatory barriers and ensure compliant products and solutions.
Role can be in any of our offices including S. Portland ME, Reno NV, or Waukesha WI
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•Identify regulatory barriers to customer success and mobilize internal resources (code specialists, product managers, product engineers) to quickly resolve
•Provide technical guidance to internal sales teams and field applications engineers and instruct them in the use of sales, design, and other support tools that you build and maintain
•Provide technical guidance for the development of training materials, manuals, and other new or updated technical content before publication and service as the primary author of application notes
•Review and provide feedback on design and engineering construction plans
•Provide mentorship to other Applications Engineers and Field Applications Engineers
•Provide subject matter expertise and additional company presence at national and regional industry trade shows
•Record detailed information about service and support activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
•5 or more years of relevant work experience
•Ability to travel on a domestic (primarily US and Puerto Rico) and occasionally on a foreign basis (total travel up to 25%)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Hands-on experience with clean energy systems (such as residential solar, storage, and/or energy management) and/or electrical contracting experience
•Intermediate knowledge of and experience with serial communications and connected devices used in residential energy industry (Modbus, TCP/IP, RS485, RS232, etc.)
•Third-Party certification and/or licensure such as NABCEP PVIP or ESIP or electrical licensure
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and flowcharts
•Understanding of and ability to apply knowledge of electronic and power circuits
•Understanding of and ability to apply the NEC, building codes, and related construction standards
•Understanding of and ability to apply UL and IEEE Solar Inverter related standards
•Understanding of and ability to use general use and specialized equipment such as oscilloscopes and meters
•Ability to solve problems in an environment of uncertainty
•Proficiency with MS Office Suite
•Strong time management and organizational skills
