Join the dynamic Center of Excellence (COE) team at Pace Industries as a CNC Specialist. We are seeking that rare candidate who is truly energized by learning, innovating and teaching, with the aim of helping our plants make better parts more efficiently.
The successful candidate will have an extensive CNC machining, programming and launch background with the ability to collaborate and interact with others across the organization (shop floor to boardroom). This individual’s aptitude to lead and mentor others in machining excellence will distinguish the right candidate from others. The role reports into the Director of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
•Demonstrate vast knowledge and application of machining, work holding, and metal cutting methodologies. Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to reduce process variability, waste, cost, and enhance quality.
•Must be able to program, tool, set-up and run manual and CNC equipment including horizontal mills, vertical mills and lathes.
•Setup new or existing programs, including but not limited to: Building tool/holder assemblies, loading/unloading tools, setting tool/work offsets and safely proving out each new program one tool at a time.
•Experience with process capabilities, adjusting machining process (offsets) per results of gauging and CMM data.
•Programming & Optimization – write and edit CNC programs optimizing tool paths, speeds, and feeds to enhance machine efficiencies.
•Apply strong understanding of cutting parameters and types of cutting tools (PCD, Carbide, etc.) for a wide variety of parts and materials
•Apply strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic fixturing, datums, work supports, etc., with the ability to troubleshoot fixtures to determine root cause of failure.
•Develop and improve manufacturing process standards (cutting tool standards, feed and speed standards, fixturing standards, machining strategies, etc.)
•Apply critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
•Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and the ability to access design feasibility and GD&T or tolerance challenges
Qualifications
•2-year technical degree in CNC programming or engineering applications, or alternatively, four years of work experience in a machining environment performing set ups, operations and programming of CNC mills and lathes.
•Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time
•Experience working in high precision and production machining environment.
•Knowledge and practical experience in CAM programming, G&M-code manual programming, Fanuc and OSP macro programming; Mastercam programming background preferred.
•Proficiency in the use and application of GD&T.
•Must be comfortable with inspection tools including, Calipers, Micrometers, Comparators, Profilometers, and CMM. Hands-on CMM experience is a plus.
•Working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.
•Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
•Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities; Inspires coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence
•Hands-on attitude with a willingness to "get hands dirty" in a fast-paced production environment.
