JOB SUMMARY
The Application Analyst is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing operational technology applications used across operations. This role acts as a liaison between Operations, IT, and third-party vendors to ensure application reliability, data integrity, and alignment with business processes. The analyst will also participate in the implementation of new systems, upgrades, and integration of technologies that support pipeline, plant, and measurement operations.
This role works to achieve operational targets under close supervision. Requires the ability to explain facts, policies and practices related to the area of work. Problems faced are generally not difficult or complex. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical job responsibilities of the Application Analyst include:
Application Support & Administration
•Administer and support operations-critical applications. The applications to support may vary based on candidate history and business need. May include a subset of the following: GIS, CMMS, Engineering, Geology, Land, production accounting / field data capture, and/or pipeline integrity systems. For example, purposes: P2 Procount/Carte, Esri ArcGIS, Quorum Suite, Hexagon EAM, ARIES, combocurve, Enersight
•Troubleshoot application issues and work with vendors and internal IT to resolve problems through systematic root cause analysis
•Manage user access, roles, and permissions across multiple systems
•Configure and maintain API integrations between operational systems
Business Process Optimization
•Partner with operations teams to understand business processes and identify opportunities for system improvements
•Develop and maintain workflows and system configurations to align with operational needs
•Translate operational requirements into functional specifications for enhancements or integrations
•Lead change management initiatives for system implementations and upgrades
•Create user training materials and documentation for new processes and system updates
Data Management & Reporting
•Ensure data integrity across operational systems and assist with report creation and dashboard development
•Spotfire and/or Power BI development knowledge a strong plus
•Working knowledge of writing SQL statements to assist in data quality improvements
•Collaborate with data teams to support regulatory and performance reporting (PHMSA, EPA compliance)
•Monitor system performance metrics and user satisfaction levels
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
•Lead monthly vendor meetings to ensure adequate vendor support and escalate vendor issues when appropriate
•Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new technology solutions
•Participate in cross-functional projects supporting operational excellence initiatives
•Provide technical support during on-call rotations as needed
•Perform other duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS
Industry Knowledge
•Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues and regulatory requirements
•Knowledge of upstream/midstream operations terminology and processes
•Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (PHMSA, EPA, state regulations)
Technical Skills
•Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with systematic root cause analysis approach
•Working knowledge with SQL and experience with database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL preferred)
•Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (Spotfire, Power BI, or similar)
•Knowledge of ITIL practices and SDLC methodologies
•Understanding of API integration concepts and experience with system connectivity a plus
•Cloud platforms experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) beneficial
•Version control systems (Git) knowledge a plus
Communication & Collaboration
•Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users effectively
•Advanced interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
•Experience creating training materials and user documentation
•Vendor relationship management capabilities

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
•3–5 years of experience in application support or business systems analysis, preferably in the oil & gas or utilities sector
•SCADA systems experience preferred
•ITIL certification or willingness to obtain certification beneficial
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
•The location of the position can be in Denver, Ft. Worth or Houston. Hybrid work will be considered.
•Indoor working environment that requires the ability to perform repetitive motions and operate standard office equipment.
•Travel may be required up to 10%
ANNUAL SALARY
$82,000 to $135,000 plus bonus
