POSITION SUMMARY:
The Analyzer Specialist role is responsible for providing training, troubleshooting assistance and guidance to operations personnel to maintain and operate gas and liquid chromatograph equipment, gas and liquid analyzer equipment, and related plant and pipeline facilities in compliance with specifications, safety standards, industry standards and company operating and measurement best practices. This position also research, reviews and edits procedures, plant and field station P&ID’s, methods and appropriate equipment to ensure reliability of service, accurate chromatography, accurate balancing and accounting, and acceptable gas quality.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical guidance and instruction related to the operations and maintenance of plant and gathering chromatograph equipment, and analyze monitoring and control equipment in compliance with regulatory, safety and operating policies, and measurement best practices
- Work with plant facilities, engineering planning design and construction to assure effective design, installation and operation of all gas and liquid chromatography and analyzer equipment on new construction while ensuring chromatography is in place to effectively balance and account for fuel, flaring, and unplanned upsets.
- Train field team members as required or requested; assist teams with developing, planning and scheduling practices to efficiently execute required work. Review work progress and assignments with the team to ensure work will be completed in a safe, professional manner, utilizing best practices.
- Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of chromatography, and analyzer equipment.
- Audit existing facilities for compliance with operating procedures and chromatography best practices.
- Coordinate and assist in the commissioning of the work of third-party contractors.
- Collaborate with facility teams to plan, coordinate, and execute projects, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance standards.
- Provide expertise in field and plant operations with gas quality accounting and the measurement repository group.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of formal education or job-related experience.
- Five years of chromatography experience with operations experience.
- Experience with the fundamentals of gas and liquid chromatography and the various metering and data analysis technologies.
- High level of competence working with accounting systems and spreadsheets and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience in teaching and conducting group and individual presentations with the ability to communicate effectively.
- High-level ability to communicate effectively to management, field personnel, and all stakeholders.
- Travel frequently to plants and field locations.
- Experience with Valmet (Siemens) Maxum II Gas Chromatographs.
- Mobility to travel to corporate offices, specific field offices, plants, remote metering sites, and other job sites without supervision or guidance.
- Mobility to travel to industry association meetings and technical conferences and schools.
