We are hiring a full time, permanent Analyst, Business Systems position working out of Edmonton, AB.
In this role, you will provide technical and business analysis support to Project Delivery teams within Application Services. As a technical business analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of project and business stakeholders to elicit and document requirements, conduct technical analysis to support more complex requirement definition, contribute to technical design details, perform limited development and unit testing. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong technical and business acumen that will allow them to quickly ramp up and contribute to each project, which may require them to deal with different people, processes, systems, and technology context. This role may also have the opportunity to work on special initiatives should the need arise, such as supporting business units with planning, research, and the development of business cases. Building key business relationships and knowledge will be essential to your success.
What you’d be responsible for
•Document detailed information from stakeholders through interviews and workshops. Creating clear and comprehensive documentation of functional and non-functional business requirements, including use of use cases, user stories, process and data flows
•Collaborate with developers, architects, and technical teams to ensure business and project requirements are met
•Validate and verify technical requirements to meet business needs.
•Evaluate and improve existing business and application procedures and processes. Researching and recommending application direction to deliver business requirements
•Provide expert advice and collaborate with other Application Services members to create dependable, efficient, and quality application solutions
•Manage changes to requirements and ensure modifications are documented, communicated and agreed upon by all relevant parties
•Support the creation of test plans and test cases and perform testing as necessary
•Develop and review business processes for new technology implementation to ensure compliance and risk mitigation
•Understand the Systems Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) including custom-build and COTS implementation frameworks
•Provide business solution advice to assist business units and Information Services in achieving strategic goals
What’s required to be successful
•Degree or diploma in Business, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science is required
•4-6 years of experience in software development/maintenance
•2-3 years of experience in business analysis and IT project delivery
•Extensive knowledge of business analysis templates and techniques
•Strong planning and analytical skills; ability to document end-to-end business processes and data flows
•Proficiency in designing, developing, and unit testing IS solutions using common programming languages
•Knowledge of SDLC and custom-build and commercial off the shelf (COTS) implementation frameworks
•Knowledge of new and emerging development methodologies (e.g., Agile, iterative development)
•Strong leadership and facilitation skills in advising and collaborating with diverse stakeholders
•Effective interpersonal and customer service skills; efficiently fulfill customer requests and complete assigned tasks with a high degree of quality and responsiveness
•Ability to create clear documentation of business requirements and simplify complex concepts to reach various business and technical stakeholders
•Strong work ethic and critical thinking skills
•Active learning skills to adapt to new technology and business requirements
•Technical proficiency in current technology stack and understanding of business processes
•Seeks out and acts on opportunities to improve processes and procedures within the team

Wage: Starting at $53.05 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and are subject to change based on ratification of the new collective agreement.)
Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday
