Purpose of the Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as the Client Lead on projects, managing the financial actions of client businesses. This includes structuring financial systems, developing policies, and contributing directly to strategic execution.
More than ever, this role requires someone who embraces innovation—particularly the use of AI/ML-powered tools—to drive clarity, speed, and operational scale. You’ll collaborate closely with executive teams while guiding internal talent and leveraging technology to ensure high-impact outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
•Client Lead: Serve as the primary contact on client projects; lead teams of Controllers and Accounting Associates.
•Strategic Collaboration: Partner with C-level executives to drive financial strategy and planning.
•Financial Management: Oversee financial systems, KPIs, and operational metrics—identifying automation opportunities powered by AI/ML.
•Budgeting & Forecasting: Leverage predictive analytics and traditional modeling to guide forward-looking plans.
•System Design & Automation: Architect scalable, tech-enabled workflows using both best practices and AI-enhanced tools.
•Team Leadership: Mentor and direct finance team members to deliver on scope, on time.
•Reporting: Provide real-time, actionable insights with the help of AI-integrated dashboards and data pipelines.
•Operational Improvement: Use data trends—surfaced both manually and algorithmically—to make better decisions faster..
Principal Responsibilities
•Cash Flow Management: Build and maintain customized weekly cash flow models.
•Financial Reporting: Ensure timely publication and analysis of monthly financial statements.
•Internal Controls: Strengthen financial processes and enforce best practices.
•Audit Coordination: Manage preparation and support for annual audits.
•Local Presence (Denver): Participate in client meetings when necessary.
As CFO, You Must Be Able To:
•Anticipate financial and operational risks, and propose proactive, tech-savvy solutions.
•Identify inefficiencies and explore opportunities for intelligent automation.
•Represent financial interests at the board level—while championing innovation.
•Explain complex financial and tech-driven insights to non-financial stakeholders.
•Build and evolve long-range planning tools—leveraging both traditional and AI-enhanced forecasting models.
Qualifications & Competencies
•15+ years in accounting/finance with proven CFO-level experience.
•CPA, CMA, or advanced degree in Finance/Accounting preferred.
•Proficient in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and cloud-based finance systems.
•Strong financial modeling and forecasting skills, with comfort adopting AI-driven tools.
•SaaS experience and exposure to data/tech-driven environments a plus.
•Strong communicator, strategic thinker, and mentor.
•Prior experience in startups, remote teams, and high-growth environments ideal.
•Values integrity, curiosity, and clear communication—with a sense of humor.
•A blend of strategic and technical curiosity—willing to learn, adapt, and lead with clarity.
Compensation & Benefits
•Pay: $125–$150/hour depending on experience
•Hours: Expected 25–35 hours per week
•100% health and dental coverage for full-time employees and dependents
