Job Overview:
As an ACME Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating multiple spindle screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms. This position requires analyzing specifications, selecting tooling, and making adjustments to ensure efficient and precise machining operations.
Core Responsibilities:
•Set up and operate one or more multiple spindle screw machines to perform turning, boring, threading, and facing operations on metal bar stock.
•Install collets, bushings, and stock pushers in the stock-feeding mechanism.
•Adjust cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements.
•Position and secure tools in holders, verifying accuracy using gauges and measuring instruments.
•Change gears, speeds, and feed rates as needed.
•Conduct first-run inspections using plug and ring gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
•Maintain and replace worn tools, sharpening them as necessary.
•Assist other workers in machine operation and troubleshooting.
•Clean and maintain machines, tooling, and parts, including removing chips from machine sumps.
•Work closely with supervisors and engineers to improve productivity and address machining issues.
•Maintain production records using production cards, layout sheets, and programs.
•Ensure work area cleanliness using 5S organizational methods.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
•Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
•Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience working with multi-spindle machinery.
•Intermediate proficiency in servicing machines (e.g., changing gears, cams, collets).
•Basic understanding of setups and extensive knowledge of troubleshooting.
•Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic shop math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of all units of measure.
•Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, and documentation.

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Demands:
•Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds frequently.
•Frequent use of hands, depth perception, and fine motor skills.
•Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, and distinguishing colors.
Work Environment:
•Exposure to loud noise in a manufacturing environment.
•Frequent interaction with moving mechanical parts, oils, solvents, fumes, and gases.
•Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
