Position Title: Accounts Payable & Regulatory Assistant
Location: Corning Natural Gas Corporation, Corning, NY
Reports To: Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager
Supervises: N/A
FLSA Status: Full-Time (Exempt)
Hours: Weekdays, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Occasional evening and weekend hours
Travel: 0-5%
JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable & Regulatory Assistant will be responsible for the financial, administrative, and clerical support of the company. This position will work with all departments to ensure all applicable regulatory requirements are followed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Receives and verify invoices for accuracy and proper documentation.
•Processes payments of supplier invoices and credit card payments promptly and efficiently for all three companies.
•Processes vendor portal payments timely and accurately.
•Completes daily cash flow forecasts.
•Actively participates in month end close process including AP accruals.
•Processes accurate check runs on a weekly basis, or as needed.
•Prints and audits bank activity daily.
•Prints and audits credit card statements monthly.
•Creates and maintains all vendor accounts.
•Scans all checks and invoices timely and efficiently.
•Assists in gathering data for responses to regulatory agencies.
•Ensures the maintenance and accuracy of up-to-date regulatory data.
•Supports the internal audit of regulatory files and processes.
•Helps to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and guidelines.
•Provides administrative support for regulatory functions.
•Assists in the preparation of periodic internal and external reports.
•Distributes finance related mail.
•Ensure work is completed in a timely and economical fashion.
•Produces finance related reports as requested.
•Completes other duties and special projects as required.

•Thorough understanding of Corning Natural Gas processes, procedures, and policies.

•Ability to exhibit poise, clarity, and self-control in stressful, ambiguous, or emotionally demanding situations.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills required.
•Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, statistical, and mathematical skills required.
•Must be familiar with job cost, budgeting and accounting concepts.
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, charts, and building functions required.
•Must possess strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
•Ability to work within tight deadlines required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting preferred.
•Five years of related experience preferred.
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, charts, and building functions required.
•Experience with gas utilities and knowledge of gas operations systems helpful, but not necessary.
•Knowledge of Cayenta, CIS Infinity, etc. helpful, but not necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
•This job requires long periods of sitting, manual dexterity, and repetitive finger motion.
•Speaking, hearing, vision, and the ability to focus are required for this position.
•Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
