Job Summary: The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and ensure the accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial information. They will also manage and mentor the accounting staff, while ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
- Oversee the accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial statements, and payroll.
- Assist with preparing and presenting financial reports to management and external stakeholders.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close process and ensure the accuracy of financial records and reports.
- Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff, and provide guidance on accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and other external stakeholders to support the timely completion of audits and tax filings.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial insights to support the development of the organization's long-term goals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accounting transactions and ensure the security and confidentiality of financial data.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Work environment will be a climate-controlled office setting
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk and use a computer for prolonged periods
- Performs repetitive hand motions such as typing, writing, and handling documents and equipment
- Clear verbal communication and adequate hearing for conversations and meetings
- Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less, including use of computers and paper documents
- Frequently required to walk, reach, and grasp with hands and arms
- Occasional travel
