National Grid is hiring a Manager, Health and Medical (Nurse Practitioner) for our Health department in our Downstate NY area.

This position has a dual purpose: be the on-site Nurse Practitioner for the Brooklyn medical office, and to manage and lead a team of nurse practitioners or similar in New York City and Long Island. This role will provide technical support and subject matter expertise to the various lines of business and operating groups. You will provide leadership and ongoing coaching and mentoring to your team in their support of various lines of business.
- Exams for new hire and annual renewals (DOT, hearing, respiratory, etal)
- Evaluation, treatment, and case management of occupational injuries
- Point of care testing
- Managing primary on site health office and oversee five other health offices across NYC and Long Island
- Team leadership – provides coaching and direction to create a strong culture
- Develop positive, professional relationships with key operations stakeholders at all levels of leadership
- Act as subject matter expert to support medical staff in their local practices (DOT physicals, annual hearing tests, pre-employment physicals, post-injury treatment)
- Act as subject matter expert for our legal department for medical consultation
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in the areas of human resource management, negotiation and communication.
- Ability to build long-lasting business partnerships with others and seek to understand and challenge business scenarios to the benefit of all parties.
- Possess excellent organizational and planning skills with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complex, major initiatives of significant scope, including unconventional projects.
- Strong presentation and communication skills including being comfortable speaking to groups, training
- Strong oral and written communicator
- Bachelor degree in Nursing and Master degree in Nurse Practitioner; must be board certified
- Active NY state license certified for NP nursing (must also have an active RN license), current BLS certification
- Minimum of three years’ experience specifically caring for adults
- Prefer 2+ years of experience managing people- Within six months of hire, attain the following company sponsored training:
- Certification by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to perform Department of Transportation physical examinations,
- Certification as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), and
- Spirometry training in a program approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
- Flexibility to visit sites and your team as needed in the territory across New York (vehicle program reimburses miles travelled)
- Computer proficiency is essential including Microsoft office
