Position Summary:
Hillwood Energy seeks an A&D Geologist to join its Domestic Business Development team in Dallas, Texas. This role is responsible for the evaluation of geological risk and upside potential across both operated and non-operated U.S. oil and gas opportunities. The Geologist plays a key role supporting Hillwood’s subsurface evaluations as it expands its domestic energy portfolio. This highly visible position offers direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to collaborate within a nimble, multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities:
A successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our domestic energy portfolio by:
•Organize and maintain geologic databases to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
•Build and manage Petra and/ or Kingdom projects, populating geological, land, and well data (e.g., production data, raster and digital logs).
•Interpret geological and geophysical data to generate maps, cross-sections and other visuals to define geologic structure, isopach, net pay, and hydrocarbon pore volume.
•Analyze subsurface data to identify patterns and support investment decision-making.
•Monitor public and proprietary data sources to stay current on basin activity and trends.
•Collaborate with reservoir engineers to validate underwriting assumptions through geologic evaluation.
•Coordinate with land, engineering, and finance teams to conduct holistic asset evaluations.
•Prepare technical memos and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
•Present technical findings, analyses, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and senior leadership clearly and concisely.
Required Skills and Abilities:
•Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting well log data and generating geologic maps to define formation structures and petrophysical properties.

•Use geological software such as Petra and/ or Kingdom with a high degree of proficiency to conduct subsurface analysis and interpretation (experience with GIS is a plus).
•Navigate industry data sources including Enverus, IHS, and/or TGS.
•Ability to understand, and preferably interpret, 2D and 3D seismic datasets.
•Utilize data visualization tools or basic scripting languages (e.g., Spotfire, Python) when applicable.
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field required.
•Master’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field preferred.
•Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in the upstream oil and gas sector (or 3 years with a Master’s Degree).
•Experience with unconventional U.S. plays preferred.
•Prior experience supporting business development, asset evaluation, or A&D activities is a plus.
