Coffey Machining Group (CMG) is a locally owned precision machining company specializing in Swiss-style CNC lathe machining and high-tolerance components for industries including aerospace, medical, automotive, armament, and electronics. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring all precision components manufactured at CMG meet rigorous customer, industry, and ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. This role oversees inspection processes, documentation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain world-class quality in a fast-paced production machining environment. The Quality Control Manager will lead a team of inspectors, collaborate closely with production leadership, and act as the primary contact for customer quality matters.
- Oversee and conduct inspections on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products, including first-article inspections, in-process checks, and final inspections using precision measurement tools (MicroVue CMM, micrometers, calipers, gauges, vision systems).
- Lead, train, and mentor quality inspection personnel in performing the above inspections as well as visual inspections to identify any defects or abnormalities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer audits, quality complaints, and certifications.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of all inspection equipment.
- Manage documentation for PPAPs, FAIRs, CARs, and ISO compliance audits.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action programs to resolve non-conformances.
- Partner with production teams to improve processes and reduce scrap/rework.
- Interface directly with customers on quality requirements and issues.
- Ensure adherence to customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and CMG’s internal quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with firearm manufacturing regulations under the Type 7 FFL license.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results, inspection reports, and other quality records in compliance with ISO-9001.
- Participate in internal audits and assist with external audits as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus
- Proven experience working in a quality control role in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects or abnormalities
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement corrective actions
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience programming and running a MicroVue Excel CMM is a plus
