The Yard and Logistics Lead/Supervisor will work with the Operations Manager to safely and efficiently complete clients’ job orders within the contracted time and man hours allotted. They will be responsible for moving all materials and fabricated members from the yard and shops in accordance with all ISC Safety Procedures, Shop Schedules, and the priorities from Operations Manager. Also responsible for the General Housekeeping of the Yard and all Stored Materials.
- Assessment/Evaluation: Observe and report on employee progress and performance to the Department Supervisor to help give a more accurate evaluation of employee progress. Perform job/work assessments to identify areas of strengths and weakness within department processes, evaluate areas that could be improved by better equipment, training etc.
- Planning/Delivery: Collaborate with Department Supervisors and Operations Manager to complete individual jobs within a specified time frame/allotted man hours. Keep work flow constant to allow jobs to continue smoothly through the manufacturing process.
- Meet with Operations Manager and Supervisors daily for priorities of daily moves. Direct Yard Employees to make all moves in accordance with priorities given by the Operations Manager.
- Supervise and direct division employees with daily tasks and responsibilities
- Some blueprint reading, using measuring tape, marking steel with chalk
- Work with office administration to submit hours and answer questions with regards to payroll in a timely manner.
- Ensuring proper coding and job tracking for each job as they pass through their department
- General labor including: lifting/material handling, grinding, banding of parts, climbing to access material and equipment, keeping area clean and free from safety hazards, and other general labor that would be needed.
- Material receiving & run-in: Loading and unloading material, by rail and truck. Perform inspections, recording part numbers, heat numbers and contract numbers, as required and marking storage location to facilitate future retrieval for actual fabrication.
- Coordinate material storage in South Receiving Yards
- Ensure Safety Standards are maintained
- Ensure Quality Standards are maintained and audited for compliance
- Correlate raw plate storage to sequence with shop sequence needs
- Decrease multiple handles (digging for plate) with improved yard organization
- Efficient storage of in process materials for sequencing
- Efficient processing of pick tickets and material blasting
- Maintain South Yard cleanliness
- Education: High School Diploma Preferred/Required
- License: None
- Experience: Prefer over 5 years supervisor experience in a manufacturing and logistics environment
- Skills: Listening to and interacting with others, ability to complete basic reports
