Position: Wastewater Operator II
Starting Hourly Salary Range: $23.89 to $30.11 (DOQ)
Normal Work Hours & Location: Day Shift 6:00am to 6:00pm, Night Shift 6:00pm to 6:00am, Rotating 3-4 Schedule / Aubrey, TX
Position Function:
Under the direction and supervision of the Wastewater Operations Superintendent, Wastewater Operations Supervisor, Senior Operator, or assigned Lead Shift Operator, and working as part of a team, assists with the performance of duties necessary to operate and maintain equipment in the wastewater treatment plant and transmission system. May work varying shifts, hours, or locations to become trained in all aspects of the WW treatment plants and collection system.
Typical/Essential Duties
•Maintains and cleans plant and system facilities and equipment by completing PM work orders. Cleans all plant facilities and control rooms including all outbuildings and structures, plant grounds, lab and lab equipment, bathroom, and breakroom and other facilities as assigned. Hoses out filters and basins, cleans and organizes vehicles and equipment storage areas and performs maintenance duties as assigned.
•Conducts lab sampling and analysis, plant rounds and equipment monitoring and testing, and security and safety rounds and monitoring as needed. Utilizes results of monitoring and testing to determine preventative and corrective actions needed.
•Monitors and adjusts wastewater plants and collection system flows, and treatment process conditions, by monitoring the status of production, through hands-on operation and oversight and remotely via SCADA to determine system status and performance is within operational guidelines.
•Maintains system reports and records by compiling daily reports and logs, recording all data accurately and in a timely manner, and transferring data from paper to appropriate computer files.
•Attends external training classes and gains operational experience through hands-on plant specific training needed to obtain “B” Wastewater Treatment Operator License through TCEQ.
•Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
•High School Diploma or GED is required.
•Must possess a class 'C' Wastewater Treatment License issued by TCEQ.
•Must be able to read and comprehend technical information, directives, manuals, memos, reports, as well as other work-related materials.
•Must have the ability to prepare analysis sheets, reports, inventories, logbooks, and work requests.
•Must be able to calculate dosages and perform general math calculations.
•Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
•Must possess a valid Texas ‘Class C’ Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
•Frequent walk, bend, squat, climb, and kneel.
•Ability to lift, push or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to pass applicable pre-employment Drug Screen, Physical, and Background Checks.
