General Summary
The pattern maker is responsible for fabricating patterns from various materials such as foam, composites, and wood, directly from CAD models or blue prints.
- Read CAD models, blueprints, or written specifications to determine sizes and shapes of patterns.
- Lay out patterns on various stock and draw outlines of units, sectional patterns, or full-scale mock-ups of products, based on blueprint specifications and sketches, and using marking and measuring devices.
- Set up, operate, and adjust a variety of woodworking machines such as bandsaws and sanders to cut and shape sections, parts, and patterns, according to specifications.
- Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces, and plane, shave, file, scrape, and sand models to attain specified shapes, using hand tools.
- Fit, fasten, and assemble foam or wood parts together to form patterns using glue, nails, dowels, bolts, and screws.
- Glue fillets along interior angles of patterns.
- Mark identifying information such as colors or codes on patterns, parts, and templates to indicate assembly methods.
- High School degree or equivalent schooling
· Some experience or training using a variety of tools for woodworking or similar materials.
· Knowledge of metric and standard measuring units.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a shop floor environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
