Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing welding processes and procedures to ensure the highest quality standards in our operations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, mechanical knowledge, and project management skills to effectively contribute to our projects and enhance production efficiency.
Duties
•Serve as the company’s Authorized Quality Control Representative for ASME U-stamp, S-stamp, and NBIC R-stamp activities.
•Develop and certify welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in compliance with, but not limited to, ASME Section IX, API 1104, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.8, and customer specifications.
•Lead the preparation for and execution of ASME and NBIC tri-annual audits, including documentation, repairs, alterations, and new construction oversight.
•Design and analyze new construction pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Division 1 using tools such as Codeware COMPRESS or DesignCalcs.
•Maintain welder qualification records, manage renewal intervals, and ensure ongoing compliance with company quality control manual.
•Provide shop and field support for welding operations, troubleshooting, and procedure implementation.
•Oversee procurement, traceability, and usage control of welding consumables, filler metals/fluxes, and shielding gases.
•Train welding personnel on code-compliant procedures and new equipment setup.
•Interface with customers, inspectors, and project managers to resolve code compliance and quality assurance issues.
•Support estimating and project planning with technical input on welding methods, time, and cost.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, or related field (preferred).
•3+ years of experience in welding engineering and ASME/NBIC quality control roles (preferred)
•CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification (preferred).
•Strong working knowledge of ASME Section I, II, V, VIII, Div 1. & IX, NBIC Part 1, 2, 3, API 1104, ASME B31.3, B31.8, and other applicable fabrication codes.
•Proficiency with pressure vessel design software (COMPRESS, DesignCalcs, or similar).
•Experience supporting field and shop welding operations in industrial or energy sectors.
•Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
•Strong working knowledge of manual and mechanized processes including GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, SAW
•Proficient in Microsoft Office
