We are seeking Journeyperson Welder-Machinist !
The Opportunity:
McKay Métis Contracting is seeking a Journeyperson Red Seal Welder-Machinist. The ideal candidate will be safety oriented, versatile in both welding and machining disciplines, and have at least three years of experience.
The Role: Under general supervision, perform production welding, machining (line boring), service and repair, prototype building, fabrication, and fitter welding.
Accountabilities
•Perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner and abide by all company policies and procedures.
•The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products.
•This position will work with Managers, Supervisors and Lead Hands to make improvements to a variety of equipment.
•As a Machinist, perform line boring on heavy equipment and components to restore critical dimensions and tolerances.
•Set up and operate portable line boring machines and other machining tools on site or in shop
•Measure, cut, shape and finish metal components to precise specifications
•Welder will be required to assist the various divisions with insight and knowledge of superior manufacturing methods, perform random maintenance, and have strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery.
•Required to be able to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.
•Conduct Technical Inspections.
•Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits.
•Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment, or processes in order to facilitate operation.
•Provide on the job training to other employees and new hires when requested.
•Ensure proper logs are maintained of condition and location of equipment for proper shift hand- over. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
•Required to operate trucks in a safe manner in congested and confined areas.
•Keeps tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Requirements and Competencies
•3 to 5 years’ experience as a Welder and Machinist.
•Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB tickets.
•Experience operating line boring and portable machining equipment is a strong asset.
•Valid welding certification.
•Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract
•Ability to work independently or in a busy environment.
•Experience with routine maintenance operations.
•Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
•Physical ability to lift up to 100lbs.
•Travel to off-site locations may be required.
•Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots
•Hazards associated with the trade.
•Work both indoors and outdoors.
Schedule
•14 days of work, 14 consecutive days off, 12 hours per day / 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day
