We are currently looking to fill the position of Welder based at ourHebron, OH Service Center. This is a non-exempt, highly skilled position within the bargaining unit responsible for the construction and maintenance area of the system. An employee in this position must be able to work independently without supervision and demonstrate a high level of responsibility and follow through.

Nature and Scope of Position (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

Install hot tap fittings for commercial and industrial meter and regulator stations.
Fabricate, weld pipe and fittings according to company procedures both in the shop and on the job site.
Fuse plastic pipe and fittings according to company procedures both in the shop and on the job site.
Participate in the installation and repair of pipeline systems as part of a crew, as necessary.
Advise management when parts and materials needed for the fabrication and repair of meter sets, regulator stations and pipeline systems need ordered.
May be required to act in the capacity of a Job Leader when necessary.
Maintain and make minor repairs on tools and equipment used in job duties.
Become familiar with and complete all forms pertaining to maintenance of equipment and plant facilities such as leak orders, material tickets, maintenance records, service tap cards, construction reports, etc.
Perform related work as required and other duties as may be assigned provided the work and duties coincide with employee’s qualifications.

Education and/or Experience:* High school diploma or equivalent GED, a minimum of five years of related welding experience. Must have successfully passed all test requirements for welding certification as outlined in the company’s welding procedures and maintain annual or other re-certification requirements. Certifications, Licenses and/or Training:* Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and good driving record. Commercial Driver’s License preferred. Language Skills:* Ability to read and interpret blueprints as required in the fabrication of metering and other gas related facilities. Ability to deal with the general public in a pleasant and courteous manner at all times. Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions. Other Skills and Abilities:* Ability to operate line locators, and other tools and equipment used in the construction and repair of the utility system. Extensive working knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to this type of work and must be familiar with the use of protective clothing and safety equipment. Accept responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity. Perform well under stress, when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations; or in situations in which working speed are critical aspects of the job.

While performing this job, an Employee would regularly walk, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, stoop, lift, use hand tools, operate other tools and power equipment. Successful performance requires ability to maintain sufficient strength to lift heavy objects, and the ability to successfully work in adverse weather conditions.
May require announced or unannounced overtime work and the ability to respond to call-out work during non-working hours or emergencies.
An Employee in this position must successfully complete pre-employment drug and physical testing and is subject to random testing as outlined in the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
