Job Overview:
The Welder-Fabricator is an integral member of our production team, responsible for executing precision welding techniques, including laser, MIG, and TIG welding. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience working with thin-gauge metal components, demonstrating expert control, technical precision, and a commitment to producing distortion-free welds. With a strong technical skill set and a dedication to quality craftsmanship, this role ensures every weld meets our high standards for strength, accuracy, and durability.
Key Responsibilities:
•Welding Operations: Execute precision welding using laser, MIG, and TIG techniques on thin-gauge metal components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
•Machine Setup: Set up welding equipment, including laser welders, MIG welders, and TIG welders, according to job requirements. Adjust machine settings, select appropriate welding consumables, and ensure proper alignment of workpieces for welding.
•Quality Control: Inspect welded joints for accuracy, quality, and adherence to welding standards using visual inspection methods and non-destructive testing techniques. Make adjustments to welding parameters as needed to maintain quality standards.
•Material Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and/or chamfering as necessary to ensure proper fit-up and weld penetration. Select appropriate welding filler materials and shielding gasses based on material type and thickness.
•Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing welding operations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
•Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including welding procedures, welder qualifications, material certifications, and quality inspection results. Complete welding logs, production reports, and other documentation as required.
•Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Certification or vocational training in welding technology or a related field.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding operations, with proficiency in laser welding, MIG welding, and TIG welding.
•Additional certifications in specific welding processes such as laser welding, MIG welding, or TIG welding is a plus.
•Precision fabrication with thin-gauge materials.
•Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and equipment.
•Familiarity with welding codes, standards, and safety regulations.
•Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
•Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
•Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
•Experience working with a variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
•Familiarity with CNC welding equipment and robotic welding systems.
•Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
