About Island Gold District:

Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Primary Responsibilities

- Calculate quantities of materials needed and safely fuse metals using prescribed welding applications and techniques.

- Read procedures and prints as part of the diagnostic process, layout work.

- Conduct inspections on mobile equipment (i.e shovel, loader and excavator buckets, dozer, blades as well as rock truck bodies), diagnose, repair and maintain as needed.

- Perform quality maintenance work as directed by the supervisor.

- Strict adherence to all health, safety and environmental requirements and commitment to the continued improvement of OHSE.

- Collaborate with other departments, tradespeople and contractors to provide innovative solutions.

- Support maintenance personnel and perform other duties as may be assigned.

- Follow all company policies and procedures.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience

- Valid Red Seal Welder certification, previous experience in maintenance of mobile mine equipment

- Valid Ontario driver’s licence.

- CWB, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW preferred.

- Capable of reading engineering drawings and CWB requirements for modifications.

- Solid knowledge of various types of equipment involved with different welding techniques.

- Ability to recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for repair.

- Working knowledge of the required codes and mathematic calculations pertaining to the welding trade.

- Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades.

Working Conditions

Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather and conditions. The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off (12 hour shifts).

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding job where the incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth.
