Job Description:

York Metal Products is looking for MIG welders who are able to weld mild and stainless steel in various thicknesses. The position requires a core competency in welding but is multifaceted in nature and will provide an opportunity to receive extensive training in all aspects of fabrication. Welders will be certified under York’s CWB Weld Certification and must adhere to industry standards. Note that the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications is essential. A working knowledge of welding equipment is necessary and the ability to examine welds to quality standards is key. The ideal candidate is someone who is looking for a full-time, long-term position that enjoys learning multiple skills and working in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- MIG welding various materials from 16 GA – ¼’ thick material

- Cutting/Grinding and prepping of various materials

- Assisting other welders in product setup

- Observes standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Safety & Health Act

- Always performs welding operation in a safe and efficient manner. Wears personal protective equipment as required; welding helmet; safety glasses, gloves, mask etc

- Ensures that weld fixtures are present if required.

- Welds components together using customer supplied drawings.

- Performs first off on all new jobs and performs in-process inspection as directed.

- Inspects outcoming parts for quality i.e. dimensions, weld porosity, surface finish etc. outlined on traveler and drawings; notifying supervision or quality of any problem.

- Maintains high standard of housekeeping in work area e.g. clear of objects, hazardous substances, i.e. oil, sharp pieces of metal on the floor, tools etc.

Skill Requirements:

- 3 years experience as MIG Welder

- 1+ years experience considered for Apprentice Welder

- Welding certification (CWB MIG Ticket)

- Must have experience with MIG welding process

- Must have experience with various materials such as stainless steel

- Hand tools; grinders, etc.

- Working understanding of measurement tools ie tape measure; caliper, micrometer

- Must be able to interpret blueprints / drawings

- Must have excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

Physical Requirements:

- Fast Paced manufacturing shop floor environment involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing.

- Process is repetitive in nature and involves postures including forward reaching, tight gripping, some climbing and squatting.

- Frequently lifts, carries, or balances up to 50 pounds.

- Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination.
