The Web Content Writer oversees the maintenance and written content of WSSC Water’s corporate websites. They ensure all web material is current, accessible, accurate, and written in appropriate style and voice. They work closely with the Communications Office (COMMS) team members to maintain the WSSC Water intranet homepage and the COMMS office pages.
Essential Functions
•Oversees the day-to-day maintenance of web content through research/review, draft, edit and publishing current, accessible, accurate content written in appropriate style and voice
•Works closely with otheer content owners to improve tehir internet and intranet presence for relevance, consistency, style and quality
•Takes proactive approve to see web content and graphics from business users and the Communications Office staff
•Ensures adherence to the web design template, branding, and WSSC Water editorial style guides
•Ensures all web content is correctly implemented within current web standards and adheres to all WSSC Water policies relating to web content publication, security, and information architecture
•May perform image editing and touch-ups; resizing collateral web materials to fit website specifications
•Trains and troubleshoots with designated authoring employees across the organization on the use of the intranet web content management system
•Participates in the IT Change Management process weekly with business stakeholders to gather information on upcoming IT deployments and strategically guide communications with internal and external stakeholders
•Works with IT as a liason to coordinate web-based projects, resolve system or access issues for the Communications office
•Implements the use of video and social media reels on the Internet/intranet to communicate with customers and other stakeholders
•Identifies and evaluates issues and advises management on appropriate style to communicate issues on the web and social media
•Manage Constant Contact subscription lists and e-mail templates for the Commission
•Develop online forms for our website and Constant Contact for the organization and for external stakeholders
•Monitors Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager to mitigate website issues and collect analytics for campaigns, analyze quarterly marketing reports
•Develops UTM tags for social media for various business sections to track campaign success
•Participates in weekly rotating on-call support for emergencies that require website updates/content management, such as water main breaks or Boil Water Advisories (BWAs). This position, when on-call, will provide 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays

•May be called upon to write, proof, and edit news releases and other written material to disseminate internally and externally

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
•Thorough knowledge of website design principles and best practices for creating user-friendly and visually attractive web pages;
•Thorough knowledge of Section 508 compliance and WCAG 2 guidelines about accessibility for websites.
•Ability to utilize HTML5 and CSS3 or higher
•Experience with enterprise content management and the use of content management systems (CMS)
•Experience with web and graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Photoshop);
•Experience with creating accessible files for websites through Adobe and Microsoft products
•Familiarity with other tools such as IBM Web Content Management (WCM), or other similar content management tools
•Familiarity with administration of Constant Contact or other email subscription tools for email subscription management, training new users and developing branded templates
•Familiarity with MediaTile or other visual signage software tools for updating visual signage across the commission as backup support
•Basic familiarity with audio and video editing software for special projects to support the video producer in Communications
•Knowledge of JotForm or other form creation tools to manage existing forms and create new forms as needed, including how to create conditional formatting.
•Knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console for leveraging analytics to create and understand/explain reports on recent campaigns.
•Proficiency with computers, especially writing programs, such as Microsoft Teams, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPointA keen eye for details
•Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio
•Impeccable grasp of the English language
•Ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision
•Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate with clients, colleagues, and management

•Experience with PowerPoint and understanding its use with WSSC Water’s branded templates
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related discipline
•5+ years experience in public relations, media, or related field
•3+ years of experience in managing content and production for corporate websites

•High school diploma or equivalent
•9+ years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations, media, or related field
•3+ years of experience in managing content and production for corporate websites
