GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor/Purchasing Agent or Warehouse Foreman, this position performs work in carrying out the day-to-day activities of the warehouse and storehouse functions of receiving, inventory control, dispensing tools, materials and supplies, and related activities in the warehouse and yard.
Union-represented position with pay schedule. Wage scale: $34.31/hour - $43.45/hour.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a non-supervisory position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Performs day-to-day activities for the warehouse, including receiving and unloading freight, issuing freight slips, handling materials, supplies and tools, stocking shelves and making deliveries.
•Assists in communication with other departments to ensure accurate purchase orders, materials lists, proper billing, adequate levels of inventory and inventory projections as assigned.
•Assists in inventory control, salvage and return processing. Performs batching using records and reports to maintain established inventory and stock levels. Monitors lead-time purchasing requirements for high-value items.
•Assists in the evaluation of freight rates, promptness of delivery, accuracy of orders and condition of received goods.
•Complete all warehouse work in yard as assigned by Warehouse Supervisor/Foreman. Ensure the warehouse/yard stays clean, clear and organized.
•Performs necessary warehouse documentation such as completing logs and forms for inventory, shipping documents and tracking information.
•When needed, may drive company vehicles for repair, servicing and/or pickup/drop-off.
•Performs flagging and provides field support as required.
•Based on pick lists for work/service orders, assembles items from inventory to be used for jobs in the field. Delivers materials and supplies to field as assigned.
•Performs recordkeeping of rubber gloves and blankets, gas and oil records, and all other required environmental/safety applications.
•Pumps bad transformers as assigned.
•Under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor/Foreman, coordinates routine maintenance and inspections as scheduled or requested on PLC Company vehicles, equipment and tools.
•Performs facilities maintenance and repairs as assigned.
•Assists in reviewing projected construction plans to ensure adequate levels of materials.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Thorough knowledge of PLC’s warehouse practices and procedures.
•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (including legible records) and to maintain interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy.
•Ability to read maps, plans, work sketches and specification sheets and to carry out oral and written directions.
•Knowledge of methods, technologies, tools, equipment, materials, supplies and processes used in warehousing.
•Ability to maintain Washington state commercial driver’s license (CDL) endorsement and flagger certification.
•Understanding and application of relevant local, state and federal safety and health regulations.
•Must be able to operate forklift, pallet jacks and/or other material handling equipment.
•Able to adhere to all safety regulations and wear protective equipment as necessary.
•Knowledge of fundamentals of mathematics, bookkeeping and electricity.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment with occasional work done outside in varying weather conditions. During emergencies or prolonged recovery and/or response periods, individual may be asked to work extended, out-of-routine hours. Position requires physical mobility including walking, bending, lifting, climbing, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds. An employee in this position may be exposed to hazardous materials, substances or circumstances, and loud noise from equipment.
RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D. Prior warehouse experience or course work in fundamentals of electricity, mathematics, basic recordkeeping and vehicle and tool mechanics may be substituted. Position requires a valid Washington state Class-A commercial driver’s license, or the ability to obtain within 6 months. Individuals must possess CPR certification and first aid cards. Must be willing to respond to emergency callouts. Certification in the operation of a forklift is not required but is preferred.
