Shipping and Receiving Material Handler Job Description
Department: Logistics/Warehouse Operations
Reports To: Logistics Manager
Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Material Handler is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and shipment of goods in the Warehouse. This role involves receiving, verifying, organizing, and preparing materials for shipment while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable of handling materials, and a proactive team player.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Unload incoming shipments using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
+ Inspect deliveries for damage, accuracy, and compliance with purchase orders.
+ Record details of received shipments in inventory systems and complete necessary documentation.
+ Safely transport materials to designated storage areas within the warehouse.
+ Ensure materials are labeled, organized, and stored in accordance with company procedures.
+ Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipping based on customer or company requirements.
+ Verify outgoing shipments for accuracy, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
+ Coordinate with shipping carriers and prepare Bills of Lading and other required forms.
+ Maintain good practices to help ensure inventory accuracy on both incoming and outgoing material.
•Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
+ Operate material-handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, VNA) safely and efficiently.
+ Perform basic equipment inspections and notify management of any maintenance needs.
+ Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Maintain a clean and organized work environment, removing hazards promptly. Learn the principles of 5S
+ Comply with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
