Position Overview

RUIZ is seeking an elite Warehouse & Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) with advanced SAP expertise to serve as a strategic consultant for our largest client. This full-time consultant role requires a recognized industry expert with deep technical proficiency in SAP warehouse systems and proven warehouse operations excellence.

As a trusted advisor, you will provide strategic guidance, technical expertise, and hands-on support to optimize warehouse and distribution operations, with emphasis on SAP-driven warehouse transformation, inventory accuracy, process automation, and operational efficiency. This role demands a consultant who can immediately deliver value, lead complex warehouse optimization initiatives, and serve as the go-to expert for SAP warehouse management and logistics strategy.

Primary Focus Areas

Advanced SAP Warehouse Expertise (Primary Focus)

- Serve as SAP Warehouse Management (WM/EWM) and Inventory Management Subject Matter Expert

- Lead SAP WM/EWM/IM optimization, configuration, and implementation initiatives

- Design and implement advanced warehouse processes within SAP including inbound/outbound workflows, put-away and picking strategies (FIFO, LIFO, fixed bin, dynamic storage), wave management, task optimization, slotting optimization, RF/barcode scanning integration, cross-docking and yard management

- Provide expert guidance on SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) for complex distribution operations

- Lead warehouse system upgrades, SAP S/4HANA migrations, or EWM implementations

- Develop custom warehouse reports, dashboards, and KPI tracking using SAP reporting tools

- Configure and optimize SAP Inventory Management (IM) for cycle counting, physical inventory, and stock reconciliation

- Troubleshoot complex SAP warehouse issues and provide hands-on technical support

- Train client teams on advanced SAP warehouse functionality and best practices

Warehouse Operations Consulting (Primary Focus)

- Assess current warehouse operations and provide strategic recommendations for optimization

- Design warehouse layouts, flow patterns, and material handling strategies

- Develop and implement warehouse management best practices and standard operating procedures

- Lead warehouse transformation initiatives including automation, robotics, and technology integration

- Optimize inventory accuracy programs, cycle counting strategies, and physical inventory processes

- Design receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping workflows for maximum efficiency

- Implement warehouse KPIs, performance metrics, and labor management systems

- Conduct time and motion studies, productivity analyses, and capacity planning

- Develop safety programs and ensure OSHA compliance

- Lead 5S, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives

Logistics & Distribution Strategy

- Design inbound and outbound logistics strategies and transportation planning

- Optimize freight management, carrier selection, and route optimization

- Implement yard management and dock scheduling systems

- Develop reverse logistics and returns processing strategies

- Create warehouse network optimization and distribution center location strategies

- Manage third-party logistics (3PL) relationships and performance oversight

Consulting Deliverables

- Conduct comprehensive warehouse operations assessments and gap analyses

- Develop warehouse optimization roadmaps with implementation timelines and ROI projections

- Create detailed process maps, standard work documents, and visual management tools

- Design warehouse layouts using CAD or simulation software

- Deliver executive-level presentations and facilitate stakeholder workshops

- Develop training materials, SOPs, and warehouse management documentation

- Provide change management support for warehouse transformation initiatives

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)

- Required Professional Certifications (must hold at least TWO): CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CTSC, CLSSBB, CSCMP Certification, or PMP

- SAP Certification Required: SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), SAP S/4HANA Warehouse Management, SAP Warehouse Management (WM), or equivalent advanced SAP warehouse certification

Experience Requirements

- Minimum 10-15 years of progressive warehouse and distribution center management experience

- Minimum 7+ years of advanced, hands-on SAP WM/EWM/IM implementation, configuration, and optimization experience - Minimum 5+ years in a consulting, advisory, or subject matter expert capacity

- Proven track record managing large-scale warehouse operations

- Experience leading warehouse transformation projects including automation, WMS implementations, and process redesign

- Demonstrated success delivering consulting engagements with measurable operational improvements

- Experience in Utility, Energy, Oil & Gas, or heavy industrial sectors strongly preferred

Technical Expertise (Must-Have)

SAP Warehouse Mastery:

- Expert-level knowledge of SAP WM and/or EWM including warehouse structure configuration, movement types, transfer order processing, picking strategies, replenishment rules, physical inventory and cycle counting, warehouse monitoring and reporting, RF framework and mobile device configuration

- Deep understanding of SAP Inventory Management (IM) integration with WM/EWM

- Experience with SAP Fiori apps for warehouse operations and SAP S/4HANA Embedded EWM

- Knowledge of SAP integration with MM, SD, PP, and QM modules

Warehouse Operations Excellence:

- Expert knowledge of warehouse management principles, methods, and best practices

- Advanced understanding of inventory control methods, ABC analysis, and stock optimization

- Expertise in warehouse layout design, slotting optimization, and space utilization

- Proficiency in warehouse automation technologies (AS/RS, conveyors, robotics, pick-to-light)

- Knowledge of barcode systems, RFID, and warehouse mobility solutions

- Experience with labor management systems (LMS) and workforce planning

- Understanding of material handling equipment (forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, AGVs)

Logistics & Technology:

- Experience with WMS platforms (Manhattan, Blue Yonder, HighJump, Oracle WMS)

- Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and warehouse system integration

- Proficiency with warehouse simulation and modeling software

- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities

- Experience with AutoCAD or warehouse design software

- OSHA certification or formal safety training

- Experience with hazardous materials warehousing and regulatory compliance

- Prior Big 4 consulting or tier-1 consulting firm experience

Consultant Engagement Details

- Role Type: Full-time consultant engagement

- Work Location: Hybrid/Remote with regular client site visits and meetings

- Client Industry: Utility/Energy sector

- Travel: 30-50% expected for on-site warehouse assessments and implementation support

- Start Date: Immediate availability preferred
