Vice President of Engineering & Manufacturing

SUMMARY
The Vice President of Engineering & Manufacturing leads both the engineering and production functions. Reporting to the Co-CEO, this role ensures alignment between product innovation, operational execution, and customer needs. The VP is responsible for leading engineering design, R&D, and field support, while also overseeing production strategy, cost controls, and execution through the Production Manager. This position plays a vital role in client’s goal to reduce compressor downtime, scale operations, and maintain industry-leading performance in a competitive oil and gas landscape.
RESPONSIBILITIES
ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP
•Oversee all engineering functions including product development, automation, and application engineering.
•Lead strategic efforts in compressor performance optimization, product differentiation, and technology adoption.
•Direct training programs for engineering and field personnel to ensure technical excellence across departments.
•Manage engineering deliverables, project schedules, and departmental budgets.
MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS
•Provide direct oversight of the Production Manager and the company’s fabrication operations.
•Align engineering output with production capacity to ensure efficient, cost-effective execution.
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing safety, quality, and productivity.
•Collaborate with engineering and production teams to proactively resolve bottlenecks and technical issues.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
•Serve as a primary liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Service.
•Support the Sales Department in technical engagements with clients and contribute to product positioning strategies.
•Lead feedback loops from the field to drive product refinement and enhanced performance.
•Integrate production and engineering efforts to deliver timely, high-quality equipment builds.
TEAM MANAGEMENT
•Manage a high-performing team including the Director of Engineering, Application Engineers, CAD Drafters, Control Room Operators, and the Production Manager.
•Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership development across both departments.
•Establish KPIs, accountability measures, and continuous feedback systems for both Engineering and Production.
•Ensure team alignment with company vision and values through visible, engaged leadership.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
•Senior-level leadership in both engineering and manufacturing settings.
•Deep understanding of oil and gas production, compression systems, and fabrication.
•Strong interpersonal skills with a servant leadership style.
•Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving capabilities.
•High-level budgeting, operational, and team management experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, or a related Engineering field (required).
•PE Certification (preferred).
•7–10 years of engineering leadership experience in oil & gas.
•7–10 years in the compression space.
•5+ years of direct experience in manufacturing or fabrication leadership.
