Job Summary

The

Vegetation General Foreman

is a seasoned leadership role responsible for overseeing vegetation management operations in support of powerline construction and maintenance. This position ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with utility and industry standards. The Vegetation General Foreman provides direction to field crews, coordinates project logistics, and maintains high standards of performance and safety. Candidates must bring extensive field experience, strong leadership and administrative capabilities, and a deep understanding of utility vegetation management practices.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

- Oversee and manage multiple crews performing vegetation management tasks, including tree trimming, brush clearing, and herbicide application.

- Develop and implement daily and weekly work schedules to meet project timelines.

- Conduct safety meetings and enforce compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

- Monitor work quality through site inspections and ensure adherence to project specifications.

- Provide hands-on training to crew members on proper techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.

- Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, and stakeholders regarding progress and challenges.

- Maintain accurate documentation, including daily logs, safety reports, and equipment maintenance records.

- Support field operations by assisting with vegetation tasks when needed.

- Ensure crews are properly equipped and tools are maintained.

- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

Job Requirements

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in powerline construction or utility vegetation management.

- At least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

- Must pass drug, alcohol, and background screenings.

- First Aid and CPR certification preferred or must be obtained.

- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, utility layouts, and project plans.

- Strong understanding of vegetation management techniques and equipment.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).

- Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, and standing.

- Comfortable working at heights and near energized powerlines.

- Close visual acuity is required for inspections and detailed work.

Working Conditions

- Outdoor work in all weather conditions year-round.

- Regular travel to various job sites.

- Exposure to noisy environments, mechanical equipment, and potential hazards.

- PPE must be worn at all times.
