Position Summary
The System Integration Engineering intern is responsible for creating a Machine Learning/AI driven risk model that takes independent inputs such as Failure Probability Density models, fault identification reports, inspection reports, etc. and produces a ranked list of high-risk gas turbine units. This model will be used to support data-driven commercial decisions to maximize sitewide power output while minimizing engine risk to the portfolio.
Internship Duration: June 2025-August 2025
Position Responsibilities
•Understand and identify operational/engineering risks with the LM6000
•Review and provide improvements to existing risk profile models such as catalyst performance, load reversals, Turbine Inlet etc.
•Conduct meetings with operating managers, engineers, and superintendents
•Develop a comprehensive program that ranks high-risk engines based on the known risks unique to each engine
•Quantify risk severity from inspection reports and warning/alarm advisories
•Collaborate with various subject matter experts and operations on different risk profiles
Required Qualifications
•In the 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate or a graduate degree program in data science, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
•Experience with Programming Languages: Python, R, SQL, C Language.
•Familiar with Data Analysis, Statistical Modeling, AI, and Machine Learning.
•Familiar with mathematical or statistical modeling/algorithm development.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Demonstrates the ability to take initiative.
•Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and think creatively to enhance model/algorithm building processes.
•Must comply with safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
•US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
•Successful candidates will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
