VDC Specialist
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The VDC Coordinator will play a critical role in enhancing project efficiency and coordination through the effective implementation of BIM processes. This individual's focus will be coordinating the implementation of virtual design and construction (VDC) and building information modeling (BIM) processes and technologies. Your expertise in Revit, clash detection, modeling, and Navisworks will be instrumental in driving project success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of VDC/BIM processes and workflows across multiple projects. Collaborate with project teams to define and create project deliverables aligned with BIM standards, protocols, and best practices.
•Monitor and manage the progress of VDC/BIM tasks, ensuring adherence to established timelines and milestones.
•Utilize Navisworks and other clash detection tools to identify and resolve clashes, conflicts, and coordination issues within the BIM models. Coordinate with project teams to implement corrective measures and track the resolution process.
•Manage BIM data and ensure the integrity and consistency of information across all project stages. Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely exchange of BIM data and models.
•Participate in BIM coordination meetings, clash detection sessions, and multi-disciplinary coordination reviews.
•Perform regular quality control checks on BIM models and deliverables to ensure compliance with established standards, guidelines, and project requirements.
•Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, communication, and provide guidance to project teams on BIM software and workflows.
•Ability to assist with project scheduling desired.
•Ability to read, understand and create MEP construction documents.
•Responsible for the research and development of new tools, procedures, products, and systems to improve the design workflow.
•Maintain a working knowledge of relevant mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, building codes and construction technologies.
•Assist in creating BIM/CAD standards and strategies for company best practices.
•Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
•Proven experience (4+ years) working as a VDC/BIM Specialist or similar role within the AEC industry.
•In-depth knowledge of BIM standards, protocols, and best practices (e.g., IFC, LOD, clash detection). Ability to apply BIM standards and ensure compliance across multiple projects.
•Solid understanding of project workflows and the ability to integrate VDC/BIM into these processes.
•Proficiency in industry-standard BIM modeling software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Plant 3D, Inventor, etc.).
•Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Bluebeam, SharePoint, Revit Server, DMS (document management systems), A360 and/or BIM 360.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse project teams.
