About This Job


Job Objective:

This Remote Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator position is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment, building structure and facilities under the supervision of the Sr. Foreman. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of the potable water and the wastewater systems. Potable water production, treatment, and distribution, as well as wastewater collection and treatment must be maintained in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Essential Job Responsibilities:* Knowledgeable and experienced in operations of water and waste water test equipment

Maintain proficiency as a qualified plant operator and maintain ADEC certification.
Must have a working knowledge of Federal and State laws/rules/regulations pertaining to drinking water and wastewater.
Responsible for maintaining and submitting water and wastewater compliance records.
Perform laboratory testing and laboratory test analysis to facilitate process control changes to assure compliance with standards, regulations and permit limits.
Perform a wide variety of preventive maintenance activities and routine repair tasks
Inventory materials and maintain at specified levels and reorder as necessary.
Performs emergency response to fire suppression water needs.
Off-load bulk chemicals used for plant operations.
Report and correct unsafe conditions or hazards.
Stops unsafe work and performs thorough risk assessment before every job.
Assist in the development/review of all plant operation documentation (procedures, system descriptions, operating limits).
Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.

Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:* Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

Monitors plant performance to permit limitations and stops operations that violate regulations.
Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
Participates on emergency response team for location.
Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:* Three(3) years minimum potable water and wastewater plant operation and maintenance experience.

Ability to work a fourteen (14) day on and fourteen (14) day off 12 hour shift work schedule.
Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.
Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding how the various parts of the oil/gas facility/plant work together (from the wells through the production facilities to the oil and gas sales lines).
Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge of how the facilities function, anticipates and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of the facility are affected.
Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate the facility unsupervised, while maintaining the facility in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees of lower rank and/or experience.
Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.
Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist at the facility, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
Ability to prioritize tasks and workflow.
Ability to work independently and/or effectively as a team member.
Ability to read blue prints and controlled documents accurately and effectively.
Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to travel to remote locations via large and small planes, helicopter or boat, and ability to don and doff immersion suit.
Ability to work in arctic conditions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
Experience on the North Slope, Alaska is preferred.
Ability to utilize PC based tools (spreadsheets, databases, word processing).

Education Requirements:* Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:* State of Alaska Wastewater Certification I or higher.

State of Alaska Water Treatment Certification III or higher.
