Schedule: Monday–Friday, on-call rotation required
Position Summary:
The Water Services Rounds Operator is responsible for conducting routine operational checks, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment and distribution systems. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains safe, reliable water service to customers. The operator travels between multiple sites daily and plays a critical role in early issue detection and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform daily system checks at multiple water systems (treatment plants, pump stations, tanks, wells, meters, and distribution lines).
•Collect and record operational data including flow rates, chlorine residuals, tank levels, pressure readings, and chemical usage.
•Conduct basic water quality testing (chlorine residual, pH, temperature, etc.).
•Monitor SCADA systems and respond to alarms or abnormal conditions.
•Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as pumps, valves, and controls.
•Report operational issues, equipment malfunctions, or compliance concerns to the Water Services Supervisor.
•Perform flushing, valve turning, and minor distribution system maintenance.
•Keep accurate, up-to-date records and logs for regulatory compliance and internal reporting.
•Respond to customer service issues and emergency call-outs as part of an on-call rotation.
•Ensure safety protocols and water quality standards are met at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS
•High school education or equivalent
•Valid Washington State drivers' license
•Must consent to annual Motor Vehicle Records check and pass Criminal History background check.
•Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screen.
•Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, more with additional help.
•Must be able to physically accommodate and use respirators and self-contained breathing apparatuses.
•Must be physically able to access and egress trenches, manholes and lift stations as well as water reservoirs and towers.
•Must be able to accommodate a weekend or variable shift and/or be on 24-hour emergency call when assigned as part of a rotation.
CERTIFICATIONS (must be obtained within six months of employment)
