Utility Field Technician - Water Meters

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious individual to join its team with experience in residential and commercial water meter installations. Candidates must have pertinent knowledge of various water meter installations. Work will be conducted on behalf of Local Utilities with their customers to install new water meters.

Optimal Candidate: Seasoned Water Technician looking to work with City Municipals. This job is a self-paced job requiring Site Inspection, Site Examination, and Water meter installations. Job will require regional short term stays in smaller communities throughout the United States. Job Description: Water meter technicians will perform a variety of tasks Including water meter changes, register changes, and installation of RF nodes for the purpose of Automated Meter reading. This work will be conducted by Allegiant on behalf of local utilities. The duration of each project will vary from 2 months to 2 years. Access to the meters will be gained through appointments set by Allegiant’s call center and provided to the technicians in Allegiants Work Order Management system (WOMs). All work conducted in the field will be captured in the Allegiant’s WOMs on a company provided smartphone. We are seeking team members that demonstrate an aptitude for quality and safety with ability to perform water change-outs.

Regional Field Position:

- Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm is the standard work schedule with available extended and overtime shifts

- Must be able to travel; willingness to Travel is 100%

Required Skills and Abilities

- Experience in the direct exchange of water meters/registers of varying sizes

- Connect AMR/AMI backhaul technologies to meter register for automated readings

- Adept smartphone skills; process data from the field into WOMs application

- Validate the Customer account, Water Meter, Water Register, and AMI/AMR device is linked in the WOM system

- Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks

- Quality and Safety Minded; Identify hazards at meter sites/report accordingly

- Organized with Positive Attitude and a desire to grow.

- Ability to use hand tools (powered and non-powered).

- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to access crawl spaces/work outside in different weather conditions.

- Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors and team members.

- Responsible for keeping company-assigned vehicle clean and orderly

- Candidate must pass pre-employment physical agility and background screening.

- Work on/support additional projects as assigned

Work Experience:

- Consistent employment record with job duties related to this position

- Experience performing work changing out water meters

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Job Type: Full-time

Rate of pay: $9.40 per hour plus $2.50 per meter installed - top performers are well compensated depending on productivity

- Work Duration: 4 weeks on, 1 Week off if home travel is not available on weekends
