CEC Motor and Utility Services has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Utility Crew Foreman at our Service Center in Palmetto, FL. The ideal candidate will be from the water, sewer, and lift station/utility construction industry, has extensive knowledge of underground utility construction and lift station rehabilitation, and is ready to take their career to the next level.

Work Environment:
•Work is primarily performed outdoors. Employees in this position are often working near public roadways, exposed to traffic, and sometimes in inclement weather. Additional job site conditions include working in or next to open wet wells, manholes, trenches, sewage, & various chemicals. The employee may also be exposed to such conditions as dampness, direct sunlight, heavy machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, and noise.
Physical Demands:
•Must be able to regularly move items weighing up to 65 pounds, traverse rough terrain, and work in or over water/wastewater, heights, or confined spaces.
•Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, squatting, standing, walking, and driving.
Reporting Relationships:
•The Utility Crew Foreman reports to the General Manager.
Note: This position requires drug and background screening.
Compensation:
$30 - $35 hourly
Responsibilities:
•Directly supervise employees and subcontractors for various underground utility construction projects.
•Interpret and communicate project plans and standards to support staff, labor crews, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
•Ensure that all safety procedures are followed.
•Support a fast-paced, demanding work schedule. Schedule could include early morning, evenings, weekends, etc.
•Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor in heavy construction projects; perform manual work in pump station demolition and rehabilitation.
•Excavate and expose utility piping.
•Perform confined space entries to access wastewater wet wells for demolition.
•Perform a variety of trades, including but not limited to carpentry, concrete work, pipework, plumbing, grading, and landscaping.
•Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
•Material handling and storage.
•Load and unload trucks, haul, and hoist materials.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•5+ years of experience in underground/utility construction, including trenching and excavation, pipe installation, equipment used, safe digging operations, OSHA requirements, and confined space entry.
•Experience in a previous leadership role is required.
•Must have a valid driver’s license – CDL class B preferred.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete daily activities on schedule.
•Must be able to hear alarms and can audibly identify the presence of danger or hazard.
•Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
•Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
•Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
