Reports to: Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager
The underground supervisor is responsible for supervising daily operations, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards. This role requires managing a team of underground workers, ensuring that tasks are completed on time while maintaining and direction of site production. The supervisor will be responsible for helping build a safe work culture, along with oversite of the following tasks:
· Team Supervision: Lead, manage, and mentor underground crew members. Ensure all team members are adequately trained and adhere to safety and operational standards.
· Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations. Monitor the work environment for potential hazards, implement corrective actions, and conduct safety meetings.
· Operational Oversight: Plan and coordinate underground operations, including excavation, drilling, blasting, and transport activities, to meet production goals.
· Reporting: Provide daily reports on work progress, safety incidents, and any issues that may arise. Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management.
· Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as company policies.
· Training & Development: Organize and provide ongoing training to staff regarding safety procedures, equipment handling, and operational techniques.
o Several years of hands-on experience in an underground mining or construction environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
o Familiarity with underground mining machinery, equipment, and techniques.
o Strong understanding of mining and safety regulations.
o Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train a team.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and management.
o Deep knowledge of safety practices and emergency procedures in underground environments.
o Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
