Role and Responsibilities
Truck drivers are responsible for driving a commercial tractor-trailer vehicle for extended hours to deliver and receive cargo safely and efficiently, while abiding by traffic laws, and ensuring safe unloading/loading at their destination. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Ensure personal safety and that of team members in the area; immediately reporting unsafe conditions to a leader; take action to prevent accidents and injuries; reporting malfunctions of equipment and deficiencies in process.
•Preforming a Pre-Flight checklist to ensure the safety and operation of the vehicle and trailer.
•Ensuring all mechanical issues identified are mitigated before operation.
•Maintain all DOT logs and follow all DOT regulations.
•Obey all applicable traffic laws and driving safely according to weather and road conditions.
•Map out the best route for orders, transporting finished goods to the customer.
•Communicate professionally with all customers, colleagues, and leaders.
•Learn and know Custom Pipe policies and procedures, conducting oneself in a positive and professional manner, promoting team unity and continuity.
•Be willing to cross-train in other capacities within the organization.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
•Possess a valid Class B Commercial driver’s license.
•Knowledge of manual shift transmission.
•High school diploma or GED required. Adequate work experience may be substituted in lieu of diploma or GED.
•Proven work experience as a commercial truck driver.
•No recent moving or driving violations.
•Enforce good health, safety, and environmental practices.
Physical Requirements
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
•Must be able to work overtime as required.
•Have the ability to drive for extended hours, as applicable by law.
Preferred Skills
•Superior organizational skills in maintaining proper documentation are highly desired.
•Must be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator.
Additional Notes
•All candidates are subject to DOT background checks and drug testing.
•Satisfactory pre-employment drug testing is required.
