JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY - Utility Solar Technician II
The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and understanding to perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations safely and efficiently, as well as provide ongoing monitoring and data collection, troubleshooting and repair services for the various solar power and BESS facilities in the US. (This is not a solar installer position.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Utility Solar Technician I or II
- Safely and efficiently performs corrective, preventative, and emergency maintenance activities within scope of qualifications.
- Performs other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
- Ensures work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
- Performs work independently and/or in work crews.
- Adheres to and enforces all safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Support or supervise junior technicians in various tasks as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs.
- Proven experience with a multitude of electrical/construction projects and knowledge of electrical equipment including solar modules, combiner boxes, inverters, pv wiring harness, 35kv underground cable and high voltage substations.
- Understanding of general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place.

- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in power plant or utility-scale PV Solar O&M/EPC environments.
- 2+ years of field experience with significant I&E, I&C and/or C&I Electrician experience will be considered in lieu of applicable solar experience. (required for a Tech II)- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application.
- Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.
- Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent journeyman certification preferred.
- Vocational training or certification in solar technology required for Technician II.
- Additional specialized training and certifications (e.g., EE98J) preferred for Technician II.
- Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
- Requires use of personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Occasionally requires lifting up to 70 pounds, to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime and non-standard working hours –(nights) as required
