An exciting opportunity exists for a Transportation Mechanic to join our Atchison, Kansas Team.
SHIFT: 1st and 2nd Shift PAY: $27.04
Purpose Statement:
The transportation mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of vehicles used for transporting production materials within and outside the facility. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting different types of transportation equipment, including trucks, trailers, mobile cranes, and forklifts.
Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on trucks, trailers, and forklifts to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in transportation equipment and implement appropriate repairs.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential problems and address them proactively.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts inventory and service schedules.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and operations staff to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to other team members as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to transportation equipment maintenance.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to pass PTO (Permission to Operate) written test and driving test upon hire
- Prefer previous heavy equipment mechanic experience
- 1-2 years’ diesel, gasoline, &/or LPG engines
- Prefer 1-2 years' work with hydraulic systems
- Prefer 1-2 years' work with electrical systems
- Knowledge of diesel, gasoline, & LPG engines
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
