We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Utility Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair a variety of vehicles and equipment used in electrical utility operations. This includes service trucks, bucket trucks, digger derricks, trailers, and other specialized utility equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with both diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on utility fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Maintain service records and ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Inspect and service aerial devices, cranes, and other hydraulic systems.
- Respond to field service calls and perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with operations and safety teams to ensure equipment readiness.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to safety protocols.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of parts and supplies.
- High school diploma or GED; technical certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance, preferably in a utility or construction environment.- Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and computerized maintenance systems.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or higher preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Experience with aerial lift and crane inspections.
- Knowledge of ANSI, DOT, and OSHA standards.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Work performed in shop and field environments.
- May require overtime, weekend, or on-call hours.
- Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and outdoor elements.
