NAVANA Labs Hinton has an immediate need for a Train Sampling Technician to collect coal samples for train loading. This Sampling Technician will be on-call and be scheduled four-on and four-off. The Train Sampling Technician will remain on stand-by until dispatched, and shall report for duty within 60 minutes of the train’s expected loading time.
The successful candidate may also be trained to work in sample preparation and collection of daily coal samples.
Responsibilities and Duties
•Collect coal samples in the field using automated and manual collection equipment;
•Fill out sample Chains of Custody using a tablet, recording important information about the coal samples such as location, the weight of samples, etc.;
•Operate a company truck to transport samples from sampling locations to the laboratory;
•Assist in coal sample preparation;
•Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure sample integrity and quality control;
•Recognize and report any sample issues; and
•Additional tasks may be assigned by Management or Supervisors in accordance with operational processes.
Qualifications
•A High School diploma is required
•Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
•5+ years of clean driving experience
•2+ years of working experience in an Industry setting is preferred
•Experience working on-call and have the ability to be flexible to the on-call schedule
•Willing to meet short-notice shift obligations as needed
•Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality
•Ability to communicate effectively
•Physical strength to lift 50 lbs.
