Position Summary
Performs work involving semi-skilled duties of a maintenance mechanic.
Duties include some knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. An entry position that is required to participate in a skills-based training and progression program.
Essential Functions
Tradesworker I:
Performs semi-skilled duties of moderate difficulty to include but not limited to troubleshooting, repair, installation and maintenance of buildings such as plumbing and lighting fixtures, doors, windows and other related movable or stationary building structures and/or equipment.
Assembles and disassembles modular furniture.
Responsible for monitoring the buildings automation system to include HVAC, Fire Control and Security systems as well as providing site security while on duty.
Performs carpentry tasks such as drywall installation and repair, interior and exterior painting, masonry tasks and other building maintenance related trades.
Performs general maintenance and repair to facilities and associated equipment such as faucets, valves, switches, plugs, hand tools and gas-powered equipment.
Assist with more difficult assignments such as maintenance and troubleshooting of complex facilities related equipment and procedures.
Perform semiskilled and skilled duties as a facilities maintenance mechanic, which includes installation and repair of facilities related equipment, fixtures and furnishings.
Accurately document and maintain records.
Supervise personnel for satisfactory task completion.
Demonstrate and apply independent judgment and discretion in setting job priorities and timely task completion.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to altered priorities and positive cooperation with management in completion of projects.
Operate powered equipment required in tasks that may include forklift, pressure cleaners, floor cleaners, drills, saws and other equipment as may be necessary.
Performs preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities.
Performance must comply with all CWS policies and procedures.
May be required to work in emergency conditions.
Regular attendance is required.
Job performance must conform to all CWS Policies and procedures.
Specific knowledge of CWS Environmental Management System policies and procedures.
Tradesworker II

Additional Duties
Must have ability to accurately document and keep records.
Performs routine tasks such as general facility maintenance.
Familiarity with safe handling practices for hazardous materials.
May be required to participate in Intra/Inter Departmental cross training.
Familiarity with safe handling practices for hazardous materials.
Have the ability to weld and burn with moderate proficiency.
Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals to accomplish specific criteria on job assignments.
Subject to 24 hour on call.
May be required to perform the duties of the Maintenance Supervisor in their absence.
May be required to operate crane trucks or vactor truck.
May be required to learn and utilize software relating to various machines.

Physical Requirements, Activities, and Working Conditions
Ability to effectively communicate in writing, verbally and with a 2-way radio, to include comprehension of complex oral and written instruction.
Ability to express and receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine distinction in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machine parts.
Ability to communicate verbal instructions quickly, loudly, and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to observe and comprehend computer screens and software to generate reports, specifications, memos, and letters.
Ability to observe repairs and field work in progress.
Ability to distinguish colors in the color spectrum; such as reading color codes on resistor.
Subject to noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Hearing Protection Required
Frequently positions self to move, traverse and lift up to 50 lbs to perform required work. Objects greater than 50 lbs. require a two-person operation.
Ability to reach, pull, handle documents, tools and equipment as required to perform routine tasks.
Must be able to turn valve operator wheels and chain mechanisms.
Occasionally positions self to use up to 50 lbs of force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Routinely ascend/descend ladders, stairs and ramps as high as thirteen (13) stories at Plum Island and three (3) stories at Hanahan. Ability to work at elevated height levels as needed to perform various task.
