Primary Purpose of Position
To work within the Tooling Department to efficiently and effectively preform tool building and repairs that assures quality product is produced and delivered that consistently satisfies or exceeds our customer’s expectation.
Major Responsibilities of Position

•Participated in decisions, programs, and training to provide continued improvement in the tooling department and in products at Magnesium Products of America Inc.
•Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
•Heat treats and welds parts as required.
•Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gauging tool, performing required inspection before, during and after machining/repair
•Performs hand operations involved in producing fixtures, tools, jogs, and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade.
•Fits and assembles fixtures, tools, and dies. Sets up, runs off, and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
•Repair tooling as required while setup in the production equipment.
•Will work collectively with any other department in the plant on the build or repair of any machinery.
•Will work with product designers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products.
Personal Competencies
•Must know how to skillfully operate a lathe, surface grinder, id/od grinder, and mill, spotting press, radial arm drills and any other related tool room equipment.
•Must have experience with trim tool build and repair
•Ability to reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
•Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing, effectively
•Ability to work independently or in a team environment
•Ability to lift 50 pounds
•Ability to stand for long periods of time
•Must be able to work overtime
•Must be able to follow directions of a supervisor
•Must be cooperative with other employees
Physical demands
•Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, grasp, and lift – occasionally lifting to 50 pounds
•Ability to occasionally climb and carry up to 50 pounds
•Visual requirements include ability to visually inspect work performed, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
•Ability to drive/operate forklift
•Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily
Work Environment
•Automotive manufacturing environment: shift work, i.e., five-eight-hour shifts for 40 regular hours per week with overtime as required.
•Shop Environment: 75% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions; standard tools available
•Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected
Educational and Certification Background
Must have an active Journeymen’s Card/Certificate - Essential
HS Diploma or equivalent - Essential
5 years’ experience in high pressure cast die build and repair - Preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.57 - $39.70 per hour
