Job Summary/Purpose
This position is responsible design engineering and project planning/execution in support of Entergy’s Telecommunication Transport Network, including inside plant, outside plant, Tower construction, cable construction and contractor coordination, communication systems and protocols, creation and maintenance of all associated records, plus other duties as assigned.
Job Duties/Responsibilities Provide telecom engineering support as described below for Entergy’s operating area in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Frequent day travel and occasional overnight travel are required to adequately support requirements of this position.
+ Lead resolution of complex technical problems through coordination of efforts with Entergy IT personnel, customers, and vendors. + Provide expert analysis of proposed infrastructure and power changes regarding need, immediate impact, future capability, required supportive skills, and the respective cost for each, including opportunity cost. + Develop strategic and tactical plans for network expansion, reliability improvements, operational improvements, etc., required to support the ever-changing needs of a multi-state utility. + Serve as a Technical Mentor and SME for more junior engineers as needed.
Minimum Experience Required IT Specialist:
will consider the right recent graduate of the degree programs mentioned above for extensive on-the-job training and development.
IT Specialist Sr: Bachelor’s degree in technology or business and 4+ years of relevant IT experience is required, or in lieu of a degree 8+ years of relevant IT experience is required.
IT Consultant: Bachelor’s degree in technology or business and 5+ years of directly relevant experience; 8+ years of directly relevant experience desired.
Sr. IT Consultant: Bachelor’s degree in technology or business and 10+ years of directly relevant experience; 12+ years of directly relevant experience desired.
Minimum Skills And Knowledge
+ Strong understanding of transport technologies and their application + Familiarity with all aspects of FAA/FCC tower construction process as well as practical engineering experience with Tower construction + Familiarity with emergency power systems design and integration, power transfer schemes, and UPS systems Understanding of AC and DC power systems for high availability plants + Mastery of Telecom “Central Office” Engineering, including AC and DC power systems design and comprehensive experience with grounding and protection of critical communications sites. + Understanding of transport technologies and offerings + Strong knowledge of transport network operations support.
+ Strong communication skills + Ability to work effectively with business leadership and resources in a multi-location, cross-functional, network/matrix environment. + Ability to leverage continuous improvement practices to provide sustainable value to internal/external customers. + Establish positive and influential relationships.
