Job Summary
This role supports the technical foundation of large-scale utility transformation programs by designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure and platform services. The engineer ensures stable, secure, and scalable environments across development, testing, conversion, and production phases. Collaboration with solution teams, architects, and program leadership is essential to support data readiness, platform integration, and cloud/hybrid hosting optimization.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage platform environments for transformation program lifecycle activities, including data staging, test automation, integration, and system migration.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and monitoring pipelines across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and data leads to configure platforms for performance, security, and compliance.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application platform issues across environments (dev, test, QA, prod).
- Establish DevOps pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure-as-code standards.
- Support cutover, migration, and performance tuning during transformation implementation phases.
- Ensure system-level observability, backup, recovery, and audit logging are integrated into platform services.
- Apply cybersecurity and regulatory standards to system engineering practices.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize platforms for performance and stability.
- Implement and troubleshoot middleware interfaces to ensure reliable data flow, error handling, and interface logging.
- Provide regulatory analysis and testimony support while partnering with operating companies (OpCos) to shape investment roadmaps.
- Develop multiyear cost models for capital investments and operational cost management.
- Structure vendor agreements to maximize value for customers and the organization.
- Adapt to evolving requirements while seizing opportunities to improve operating practices.
- Maintain officer-level communication to foster high-trust relationships with key leaders in driving cohesive transformation strategies.
- Proficiency in SAP ECC and S/4HANA platforms.
- ABAP programming skills for writing and debugging SAP code.
- Knowledge of SAP BASIS for system administration, installation, and maintenance.
- Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) for system integration.
- Data management skills within SAP IS-U to ensure data integrity.
- Strong understanding of utility sector operations and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NERC, SOX).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with critical thinking skills to navigate ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder management at officer-level engagement.
- Financial acumen for developing high-quality cost models.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5–7 years in platform/system engineering, DevOps or infrastructure architecture.
- SAP IS-U Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on configuration and testing in SAP IS-U (minimum one to two projects).
