Technician III – Solar-BESS
Location: Field-Based – Nationwide Travel Required

Purpose
Virtus Renewables is seeking dedicated and hands-on Technician III – Solar-BESS professionals to support the maintenance, repair, and inspection of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) at project sites across the United States. This mid-level field position plays a vital role in upholding system performance, safety, and reliability by assisting in diagnostic procedures, routine maintenance, and component-level troubleshooting.
This position is ideal for individuals with foundational experience in photovoltaic systems or electrical work who are eager to expand their skills in a fast-growing renewable energy environment. Technicians at this level work under the supervision of Senior Technicians or Field Supervisors and will receive regular technical guidance and on-the-job training.
Field Operations & Preventive Maintenance
•Assist in the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance on solar PV and BESS infrastructure.
•Support mechanical assembly, component replacements, torque checks, and minor electrical repairs.
•Follow standard operating procedures and task instructions to ensure safe and quality workmanship.
•Operate basic diagnostic tools, hand tools, and testing equipment under supervision.
•Set up and organize tools, test gear, and work areas for field operations.
Documentation & Reporting
•Accurately document work completed using mobile apps or ERP systems.
•Submit field service reports, checklists, and time entries on a routine basis.
•Communicate clearly with site supervisors and senior technicians regarding job status and next steps.
Compliance & Safety
•Follow all safety procedures in accordance with OSHA, company policy, and site-specific protocols.
•Participate in daily safety briefings and report any observed hazards or incidents.
•Maintain assigned PPE and ensure tools and equipment are used and stored safely.
Required Skills and Expertise
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in solar maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or industrial systems preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
•Basic understanding of PV systems, wiring, inverters, and racking hardware.
•Familiarity with multimeters, torque wrenches, and basic testing tools.
•Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving equipment, platforms, and procedures.
Licensure & Certifications:
•Valid Driver’s License required.
•OSHA 10 certification preferred (OSHA 30 encouraged and may be required within 6 months).
•Arc Flash and other EHS training provided upon hire.
Professionalism & Work Ethic:
•Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.
•Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work collaboratively with team members.
•Positive attitude and willingness to travel, work outdoors, and grow professionally.
Education and Certifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certificate, military training, or trade school background in electrical or mechanical systems preferred.

Work Environment
•Primarily outdoor field work with exposure to weather conditions and utility-scale solar sites.
•Frequent travel across the continental U.S., including overnight stays (up to 8 weeks per assignment).
•Physical tasks may include lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, standing, and repetitive motion.
