Functional Summary•Lead technical support for the EXSIF Tank Container & Chassis business in the Americas.
•Interface with customers and provide on-going technical support for tank container design and specifications to meet customer specific requirements for cargo/commodities.
•Manage open bookings to ensure modification and repair project lead times are met, and ensure all mechanical systems work safely and efficiently to meet user needs
Functional Responsibilities
•Analyze Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and determine compatibility with tank container specifications and cargo/commodities.
•Study technical drawings, general arrangements, & prepare specifications.
•Provide expert advice to account managers and customers on all EXSIF offerings. Liaise between Americas region and corporate engineering team.
•Follow intermodal industry trends, maintain technical knowledge, and stay abreast of leading-edge technologies in tank container industry in the Americas.
•Ensure compliance of all laws and regulations related to tank container industry including but not limited to RID/ADR, 49 CFR, IICL, FMCSA, and IMDG.
•Identify improvements in the services and products of EXSIF partners, including depots, surveyors, as well as component suppliers.
•Manage repair quality to ITCO ACC, control stocks of parts and recommend new partners as needed.
•Support Ops Manager to maintain and cultivate professional relationships in North and South America with key partners & vendors.
•Prepare periodic reports related to modification projects and detail key metrics related to modifications.
Main Tasks Responsibilities
•Inspect completed modifications to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational requirements and safety standards
•Maintain a consistent and open dialogue with the EXSIF customer service and account management teams regarding ongoing technical projects and unfulfilled bookings.
•Provide expertise to customers for approved modifications, suitable replacement parts, and tank test requirements while tanks are in service
•Respond to customer requests for cargo and equipment compatibility
•Maintain & record technical issues in case management system for future retrieval, knowledge sharing and quality control.
•Liaise with depots and EXSIF account management teams to provide accurate modification quotes for customer proposals.
•Coordinate with operations manager, clients, and colleagues to ensure that equipment for confirmed bookings are made available according to schedule, & TLS is updated with accurate fitting inspection reports (FIR’s)
•Manage parts availability/lead times for projects, parts sales, & EXSIF customer bookings.
•Ensure adherence of EXSIF repair quality standards by promoting technical policies and procedures (depot manual)
•Administer tank training program as needed to internal and external stakeholders.
•Support the operations team to reach specific goals established by executive management to meet the overall company objectives to continuously improve modifications operations and procedures
•Stay abreast of engineering developments within the tank container industry and assist in warranty identification and associated field activities. Identify, formulate, and produce solutions to emerging problems to eliminate malfunctions
Qualifications And Experience
•Proven working experience in mechanical engineering or process piping
•Five years of technical industry experience
•Knowledge of the chemical or metallurgy industries, including transportation regulations and procedures including federal and international laws.
•Working experience with product lifecycle management and root cause analysis
•Mathematical computing and analysis and technical writing
•Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
•Engineering degree, preferably in a technical or industrial sector associated with mechanical engineering.
Skills And Abilities Required
•Perform detailed calculations to establish tank utilization and fill rates for tank volumes
•Solid oral and written communication skills, ability to effectively coordinate lead time
•Ability to travel within the area (North and South America) 20%
•Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 2D or 3D designs of ISO tank system
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Adobe, Outlook, etc
•Knowledge of SDS sheets and hazardous materials
•Able to work independently, critical thinking ability, and have problem solving skills
