We are hiring one (1) full-time temporary Systems Analyst position for up to 13 months working out of Edmonton, AB.
EPCOR Application Services performs operational and project activities for a diverse array of applications including cloud, web, on-premise, and mobile applications, for asset management, and utility operations.
The Systems Analyst provides technical expertise in drafting and geospatial applications used across EPCOR supporting the management of gas, electricity, and water utilities. Leveraging your education, experience, customer service skills, and strong communication abilities, you effectively resolve problem tickets and work requests with creativity and efficiency. You also prioritize capital project work appropriately while contributing to successful team outcomes. This role reports to the Manager, GIS & ADMS.
This position is eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.

- Maintaining System Reliability: Monitoring, maintaining, and managing changes to systems to ensure consistent reliability and availability.
- Supporting Operational Transitions: Assisting with the transition to operational reviews and checklists to ensure smooth handoffs and readiness.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigating issues to identify root causes and implementing solutions that reduce future risk and actively participating in root cause analysis meetings.
- Collaborating Across Teams: Working closely with the Application Services team to build and maintain efficient, dependable, and high-quality solutions.
- Driving Continuous Improvement: Executing daily tasks with a focus on improving processes and systems.
- Participating in both capital projects and ongoing operational activities.
- Building Knowledge and Documentation: Contributing to team documentation and knowledge sharing to support long-term sustainability through cross-training and succession planning.
- Adhering to all departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Completion of a Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a diploma in Computer Engineering/System Technology.
- 4+ years of relevant experience is preferred.- Candidates with less experience may be considered in a developmental role.
- Intermediate programming experience, with a strong understanding of C# and Java development.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Experience using ETL tools, such as FME.
- Self-motivated technical professional with a passion for continuous learning and innovation.
- Ability to perform quality assurance on estimates, business requirements, application design, and programming logic.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot critical application issues with urgency and precision.
- Familiarity with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience using common programming languages.
- Understanding of change management, Agile methodologies, and the ITIL framework.
- Experience developing applications within CAD environments, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Working knowledge of both Linux and Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting and system support.
- Familiarity with spatial databases, including Oracle Spatial & Graph or Microsoft SQL Spatial, and a solid understanding of geospatial concepts.
- Experience administering Esri desktop and server products.
- Understanding business processes, data interfaces, and how business applications function across systems.
Wage: Starting at $53.05 per hour at IT2; and starting at $48.58 per hour at IT1.
- Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
- If a candidate is hired at the developmental level starting wage will be determined based on experience at the time of selection.
